Information for Parents
Does my child qualify?
To qualify as an All Children See patient, a child must:
- Be under the age of 18
- Be a legal citizen/resident of the U.S.
- Have failed an eye screening, be unable to complete a vision screening, or have an eye concern
- Be uninsured or financially unable to pay a co-pay
Where does the program currently operate?
ACS is adding volunteer pediatric ophthalmologists to its registry. If there’s not a doctor in your area today, please check back as more physicians join our database.
Getting Started with ACS
- Fill out an application.
- If eligible, you will be provided a list of volunteer ophthalmologists based on their zip code. Select one ophthalmologist to be matched with.
- You will receive an email with a referral letter including the selected volunteer ophthalmologist’s name, address, and phone number.
- Call to schedule an appointment for your child. The ACS volunteer also receives an email referral letter with the name of the eligible patient.
Scheduling an Appointment
ACS is not an urgent care program. Appointments are scheduled according to each doctor’s availability. Participating ACS doctors are asked to prioritize ACS patients when possible. However, appointments will be scheduled at the next available appointment, which may be two or more months away.
If the child needs care more urgently, it is advisable to speak with the child’s pediatrician or to consider seeking care at an urgent care center.
Extended wait times for ACS appointments are not a reflection of cost of care. There is currently a global shortage of pediatric ophthalmologists. AAPOS is actively working to attract and retain new talent into this important healthcare field. We thank you for your patience as we work to provide care to patients as soon as possible.
